Jumping in here (as an admirer of your work, Casey!!) to say that CS profs including an ethics "module" in a course is absolutely being used to deskill already underpaid and understaffed humanistic/qualitative fields and remove them from ethics training for engineers 😒
~25% of my job now is trying to prevent this from happening at my institution after an early claim was made on ethics from STS type folks. Other neoliberal machinations are being used to suggest that ethical + social expertise aren't *really* expertise and CS can just do it all
OR that responsibility for "ethical training" (whatever that is) can be diffused across curricula in other ways which IMHO kind of defeats the purpose of specialized ethical training for engineers... and on tough days I wonder if that's the point.
