the reactionary backlash around inclusive language is so...... idk i just get disgusted watching ppl go back and forth abt it really... especially when the term literally includes the word “person” or “people” and its still called dehumanizing even tho its perfect for its context
like i genuinely feel like “birthing people” is weird phrasing at its worst but also the fault of character limits.. “people who (can) give birth” is so simple and literally prioritizes personhood but i feel like itd honestly get the same reaction (cuz it has) from wat im seeing
like..... especially in the context like literally someone is talking abt hospital treatment of black ppl in labor like...if u think for .5 more seconds you understand that women are included in people, but not all people are women.. see: the square rectangle geometry lesson
and also not to clock but this partially is a scenario cis ppl dug themselves into... like i saw someone say “no one likes to be reduced to their capacity to give birth” but.... anyone who has listened to a transphobic woman (and there are alot of them) know that some do.. +++

which is to say. like ya we shouldve been investigating and changing our language a long time ago (which always happens, language evolves yes) im just. unclear, skeptical, and suspicious about the dynamics at play in discourse/outrage around gender inclusive language
