This thread will chronicle some notable and cool paint liveries of the A-10 Thunderbolt II, or the Warthog.

Starting out with the "Chocolate Lizard" scheme. This was the livery that was applied to the first run of A-10s off the line. They switched to grey soon after.
This is a one-off livery coloquially known as the "Peanut Butter" scheme was applied to a single Hog s/n: 76-0544 from the 47th TFS/917th TFG. It was an experimental pattern for Desert Storm.... that unfortunately never panned out.
This is another experimental scheme known as the "spotted" or "JAWS" scheme. In '77, the USAF was working on the Joint Attack Weapons System program, where they found the usual Grey color stood out against the terrain (Who woulda thought?) Only 4 planes were painted in the livery
The last one-off experimental scheme here is an Arctic livery applied to s/n 80-0221 for testing out the viability of basing A-10s in Eielson AFB, Alaska. This test was called "Operation Cool Snow Hog" (I know right) and occurred in '82. A total of 4 planes were painte this way.
This "Black Lightning" scheme was painted onto an A-10 of the 118th "Fighting Yankees", which pays homage to the scheme painted on P-51s flown by the same unit in WW2. It was painted in 2003 in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Connecticut Air Natl Guard
The next schemes are exclusive to the A-10 Thunderbolt Demo Team.

This aircraft is painted in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Red Devils of the 107th Fighter Squadron.
The livery shown below is the standard scheme for the Demo Team, honoring the P-51 of WW2, with invasion stripes and the old-style USA roundel.
The last Demo Team livery was a one-off paying homage to the Vietnam service of the 335th FW, of which the Demo Team is assigned. The scheme is reminiscent of the in-theater F-105 Thunderchief, which their Wing flew in Vietnam.
The Demo Team pays homage to the KIA and POW members of the 335th TFW that served in Vietnam by listing their names on the side of the cockpit.
NOT A LIVERY!

Did you know there are 3 different animal faces that are painted on the A-10? They are: Shark, Snake, and Hog.
