I don’t lack discipline, I lack community. I’ve spent so much time criticizing myself for not getting xyz done, for lacking consistency, all while ignoring the fact that so many of the things I do alone are supposed to be done in community.
Capitalism takes community away from you & then tries to convince you that because as an individual, you can’t complete communal tasks, there’s something wrong with you. There’s no amount of self care that can replace our need for community care.
I will not criticize myself for struggling to cook & clean when these are tasks to be shared with others. I will not criticize myself for being inconsistent with spiritual practices when I’m supposed to be journeying with elders & other community members.
