Sunday #Cavs Talk Thread:

Honestly, I think the team is largely fine and there's a bit of a "sky is falling" happening.

I don't know what the expectations were. It's a weird Covid season, they're not good enough to win & theyve had a ton of injuries.

There's no timetable.

They should stay the course with Altman & JB. Altman hasn't crippled the team with unrecoverable/hard to recover moves even if you account for Love's extension.

Drummond didn't work so they moved on. Osman's guaranteed $ is less than Prince's and I'll address Porter Jr next
3)

I was told after the car accident the team got Porter Jr into a program ASAP. He was unofficially suspended. It's why the media couldnt talk to him & why he didnt practice let alone play until right before the final incident. The notion they let him twist in the wind is false
4)

Several members of the Cavs organization built relationships with Porter Jr which might have been the reason is rookie year was problem free & he had problems away from basketball. Zoom isnt the same. If you want to fault them for moving on, fine. It's not a fireable offense
5)

This summer will be a flashpoint for the #Cavs. They're going to pay Allen & Sexton. Ok, fine. But it's obvious they need an elite talent to push the players they have down the totem pole. The outside observers Locked On & Chase Down talk to mostly all say it too.
6)

How the Cavs are themselves is important. Sexton vs Garland isn't the issue. You shouldn't build the team out from these two guards. The Portland thing is nonsense. They need Paul George or an AD themselves.

We're getting to the point where huge mistakes truly could be made
7)

The draft is going to be pivotal but the philosophy remains. Take elite & move who you need to. When the talent flattens out you can think more about need. Unless the talent is close enough where there's not a real preference you only trade down if you can still get your guy
8)

Biggest cloud over the Cavs isn't the competency of the GM or HC it's Dan Gilbert or whatever possible Joffry may be taking a larger role. Getting a later pick may necessitate more patience & a shrewder hand than what Gilbert is known for.

Yes, Im assuming he's still alive
9)

Allen, Sexton, Okoro & Garland are overall better than the post-LBJ I group & the post Phills-Mills-Brandon & Rookies around Kemp groups. We know what's missing & get that guy then all of a sudden the group could take off & Love's semi-retirement frustration blowups fade away
