BREAKING: The Conservative likely to be Wiltshire’s Police & Crime Commissioner has been told by Tory HQ that he can't take the job if he wins Monday's election count. Jonathon Seed is "disbarred" over an old conviction for drink driving. More soon. #BBCElections @BBCPolitics
Conservative candidate Jonathon Seed says he is "bitterly disappointed" he has "withdrawn his candidacy" for PCC. Says he DID declare a 30 yr-old driving offence to the party - they didn't believe it disqualified him, but he's "now been advised this is not the case".
But as for the actual election, being Wiltshire he is the standout favourite to win. The count must still take place tomorrow (Mon). What happens if he wins remains a little unclear - but not taking the job would result in another election, rather than 2nd place taking over.
