when confronting white supremacy, i am often faced w/ the difficult choice between walking away to protect my peace and pushing for accountability and change. yesterday i thought walking away was best for me. today, i realized that y’all have just gone back to ~business as usual~

and it’s pretty devastating to see that many of you used myself and Desiree, the two POC in this situation, as a punching bag for your “discourse” and you ascribed attitudes and frameworks on us that are meant for WHITE PPL to UNLEARN, and then once “the dust settled” many of you

went back to tweeting about any old thing. because that’s your privilege. this didn’t fundamentally alter your safety. this didn’t result in racialized harm towards you. leaving those screenshots up means that any time someone in the future comes across this situation & they

weren’t here for the whole thing, they will contribute to the harm against myself and other WOC. they will dogpile on us like many of you have, they will accept half-truths and essentializations and convenient narratives that benefit the white women who felt ~so righteous~ as

they dragged Desiree and I to hell and stomped on us all while calling accountability. well... so.... where’s the accountability for the harm done to us? where is your accountability? why hasn’t the original screenshot poster ADDRESSED their harmful impact? why aren’t y’all

discussing ways to make sure this never happens again? why aren’t y’all transforming yourselves and your behavior? it really seems to me like that’s because this was never about accountability as much as it was about cop behavior. so now, i have a choice. fade into the background

& let y’all get away with this, or keep making noise. i thought i wanted to fade but i have changed my mind. i will make all the fucking noise because y’all will just do this again to the next WOC. i’ve literally been in chats with other WOC y’all have DONE THIS EXACT THING TO B4

so, no, it’s not “The Fandom Discourse”, it’s racialized harm and compromising the safety of myself and other WOC and throwing us in harm’s way in order to assuage your guilt/shame/confusion about your whiteness. so, let’s have some real accountability. please.

who is in community with the screenshot poster? who is in community with the countless white women who outrage tweeted essentializations that targeted WOC? who is going to step up and call in their community members?

what has happened since i posted these tweets? i’ve lost followers. that tells me A LOT about the racism of this fandom

if the screenshots stay up, the harm done to Desiree and I should be INCLUDED in the thread. in any thread discussing this. the narrative should not either erase us or demonize us. multiple things can be true at the same time. in fact, that's how white supremacy works.

it's a SYSTEMIC violence that permeates every aspect of organized communication, exchange, activity, literally everything. when you prioritize one harm at the expense of BIPOC, you are not actually Doing Anything To Make The World Better. you're just helping white supremacy

and only looking out for things that affect you directly. that's not justice. harm is harm. be accountable to the harm you caused, even if you had good intentions or were trying to address a different harm in the first place. intent =/= impact, remember?
