Moments like to his is what separates BC/Asta from other shounen. It shows that Asta's struggle isn't one of strength, but rather a struggle of social standing. No matter how strong, no matter what he achieved, he is still looked down upon, thus reinstating goal and motivation.
Asta is now more or less OP, but since his struggle isn't in ability to fight, BC doesn't need to worry about how high the physical stakes are. Unlike in most shounen, the stakes can be as high or as low as they want because its more about the personal progress of each character
I really don't know how people can call BC and Asta generic, when almost everything that it does is a trope subversion and completely different from the tried formula of shounen, not all of it, but a good portion is.
On the surface level it's can come off as generic, but if you actually pay attention, and keep reading you'll realize it's the furthest from being that.
