Why is it only the restaurant industry that’s experiencing this so-called shortage of workers?
We all have our little anecdotes and personally, the people I know in the restaurant industry who got laid off moved on to different industries. They always hated restaurant work. Being laid off gave them a chance to find a different direction.
And btw, the folks I know who left or are trying to leave the restaurant industry aren't doing it because of the wages. It's because of the shitty treatment from management and customers and the long, late hours. You can make low wages doing easier work.
