Disappointed to see the misleading and emotive claptrap being pushed through letterboxes on Herne Hill and Dulwich today. It's nonsense: all roads can be accessed at all times by anyone by car, on foot or by bike.

That includes community nurses, doctors, midwives, first responders, social care workers and family carers.

It conveniently ignores everyone in our community with asthma, COPD and heart disease who benefit from reduced pollution, the damage being done to the lungs of our young children.

It ignores the improvement to health brought about by more active travel to which the numbers of children cycling and walking to school bear testament.

It ignore the fact that most people in Southwark do not have access to a car and need to walk, cycle or use public transport to get about. All modes of transportation adversely affected by private car use.
