On 7th May, officials of Bahria Town Karachi fired upon villagers of Kathore in an attempt to occupy their land, injuring three protestors.
Team Soch talked to Hafeez Baloch, an activist and eye witness of the incident, to find out more about what happened that day.
Hafeez shares that Pakistan People's Party has been supporting BTK and that the recent statements given by Bilawal Bhutto and Nasir Shah were merely face-saving exercises.
After #SayNoToBahriaTown started trending on social media in the wake of the May 7 incident, a few people claimed that the land actually belonged to Bahria Town and the protestors were land grabbers.

Hafeez dispelled this rumour for us:
Team Soch has been investigating the Bahria Town matter for over two years now.

We interviewed people from the indigenous community who highlighted how Bahria Town's expansion has ruined the enviornment and damaged agrarian lands of the area.
Villagers were also perturbed by Supreme Court accepting BTK's Rs460bn' offer and preventing NAB from probing Bahria Town's illegal activities. After the SC verdict, BTK started occupying villagers' lands on an even larger scale.
