“I’m so burned out. I can’t do this anymore.”

This is one of the most common issues I address with my #physicancoaching clients.

We avoid #burnout and increase/maintain our #resilience when our basic needs are met.

Let’s start with the basics.

Physical and mental health:

I am hydrated.
I have access and time to consume nutritious foods.
I am rested.
I have time/access to restrooms.
I can easily access mental health resources.
I do not cope by substance use.
I have time/access to private space to breastfeed/pump.
Safety and security:

OSHA estimates that workplace violence is 4x higher in healthcare than private industry.
I feel safe at work.
My patients are safe in my workplace.
My job is secure.
I am compensated fairly.
Respect:

I feel valued, included, and respected by my administrators, colleagues, and patients.
My workplace, colleagues, and patients do not discriminate
My family time is respected
I had adequate maternity/paternity leave.
My EHR is efficient.
Equipment and processes work well
Appreciation and Connection:

I am noticed and appreciated.
I feel connected to my patients and colleagues.
My compensation reflects appreciation.
I respect my leadership team.
Healing patients and contributing to the fullest of one’s ability:

I have time, autonomy, and resources to heal patients.
I have time to think and contribute.
I can fully engage in teaching my students/team.
I am living in alignment with my purpose.
