The idea was that when women start earning, it will reduce the burden from men. Unfortunately, it lays bigger burden on men.

The richer women become, the higher the expectation of financial success from men.

Going for a low income man means settling according to modern women.
Whenever an independent woman describes her ideal man, you hear things like; I'm doing well already, I want a man that will support me and bring me up to his level.

When you ask about a low income man who has other great qualities; you will hear; well, I would give him a chance
...as long as he's ready to work hard to get to my level and we will grow together.

For such man, there's an undue pressure for him to measure up. Even though he's doing well on average, his contentment with his achievement doesn't matter as long as he's not financially and
... socially above her.

Men are not intimidated by successful women rather the unpleasant behavior is what repulses them from said successful women.
There's the disrespect, the pressure to measure up, being compared to other successful men and then the competition to keep his
... woman.
A woman that can afford a ₦5m car would want her man to buy something bigger. Buying her anything lower than what she can afford won't please her.

"It's the little things that matter" do not work in this case.
"It's the thought that matters" only works when the
...the major action (financial expenses) has been taken.

So, women's financial success isn't helping men rather, it's setting the bar higher for them.

Well, hustle but endeavor to not attract a woman with money, set the bar straight from the beginning.
