Thread: In my deepest crisis, my workplace told me I should not worry about taking leave. That helped me in round the clock caregiving. My energy wasn't split between work and illness. Here are some ways organizations can look after their reporters
1. Get them PPE suits if they are reporting the covid crisis
2. Cashless insurance cover for them and their families
3. Unlimited sick leave
4. Cut down paperwork and emails for urgent matters
5. Many themselves are on the verge of a mental breakdown. Arrange counselling
6. Many have covid positive patients at home. Assist in their caregiving. HR should appoint a ground staff to arrange for medical help, oxygen, medicine, enquiry about hospital beds for them
7. In-house doctor on video call
8. Prioritise their work, respect their work
9. Allow indefinite work from home
10. Issue press cards and emergency passes that will allow them to travel during lockdown
11. Facilitate their vaccinations
12. Translate their ground reports in other languages so it reaches a wider audience
13. Allow rest time
14. Minimise calls after work
15. Issue vehicles for travel or pay for their uber from a central paytm number so they don't have to pay cash and raise invoice etc
16. Women journalists also have primary household, elderly and childcare duties, allow them flexible shifts
17. Zomato coupons to cut down food preparation time and labour
18. Reimbursement for medical needs as cash in their account first, bill submission later
