So many hv reached out after this tweet trying to correct or discount my feelings of d massacre. So this thread:
It is a fact that violence is widespread across AFG, suffering is collective & we need to fight this united but it is also a fact that Barchi is predominantly Hazara & https://twitter.com/YourishM/status/1391073911891283971
this was not d first attack of its kind-- add to that d historic persecution & genocide of Hazaras. You need to be living in a Hazara household to understand d widespread fear of a Taliban takeover since d announcement of withdrawal.Fighting united first means acknowledging this
fear & historic injustice to your fellow Hazara & allowing them to grief in the context of their prolonged suffering. Second, important that all journalists see this as a targeted attack & don't discount d nature of d violence. Third, talking about prejudice & inequality
doesn't make one racist. In fact its important more than ever to hv these conversations. It is in our national interest to ensure that officials r held responsible for public safety specially those of vulnerable.Avoiding d conversation of inequality doesn't help dealing with it.
