Israeli apartheid apologists pretend that the slow transfer of Palestinians from occupied East Jerusalem by settler associations is a private civil dispute.
This is a fabrication, to bypass criticism.
This transfer is grounded in Israeli law & supported by all branches of govt.
First, the basic legal structure: Israeli law is rigged in order to allow Jews to reclaim property they lost in the 1948 war, and prohibit Palestinians from doing the same.
I know it sounds too racist to be true, but this is the reality here.
Second: the entire administrative, political & practical might of the state (& external actors) is dedicated to the settler takeover of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem.
This includes local & national govt, the Custodian of Absentees’ Property, the General Custodian...
...the Jewish National Fund. The Israel police provide security envelopes to evictions in East Jerusalem and the Ministry of Housing funds a private security force that serves Jewish Israeli settlers in East Jerusalem Palestinian neighborhoods like Silwan.
So the state is deeply implicated and responsible for the reality, in which at least 218 Palestinian households in East Jerusalem (including SJ) have eviction cases filed against them, placing 970 people, including 424 children, at risk of displacement. https://www.ohchr.org/EN/NewsEvents/Pages/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=27067&LangID=E
Finally, here is a list of short and long term actions that could be taken by the Israeli authorities to resolve this matter, in spite of it being a so-celled "private civil dispute". https://peacenow.org.il/en/the-magistrates-court-ordered-the-eviction-of-4-more-families-in-batan-el-hawa @PeaceNowIL
This is how the international community should respond to Israeli officials whenever they come up with the nonsense of "a real-estate dispute between private parties".
Right before informing them that any additional evictions from occupied EJ will lead to real consequences.
