@igmhmv ah psychiatric emergency ehga ER ah gossa physically wounds fennan nethiyya consider eh nukurey emergency eh ge gothuga eh. Did you know a person in imminent threat to themselves cannot be diagnosed by observing their physical wounds? (1)
The ER MOs are incompetent in handling psych emergencies. Do not know how to take a history without triggering the patients. Incapable of recognising a person who is having a threat to their life. Did you know self harm without suicidal intention can result in lasting damage? (2)
The absence of horrifying self harm wounds on my arms seemed to signal the ER MO that I was not an emergency case. Therefore was not referred to psych MO oncall. Was sent home twice. Let's just say I'm lucky I haven't lost function of my hand. (3)
Went to ER a third time. Showed triage my prescription and let them know the situation. Was told to come during opening hours. I said mithaaga on call ga psych MO nuhurey heyyey. Is this not an emergency because you can't see an arm full of cuts? (4)
I told her should I kill myself and then come here? Or should I go to the toilet and cut my arm 100 times and come show you. I can do it right now. Lol she sent me right to yellow zone. People, this is how you have to act to get treatment at igmh ER. (5)
I've had horrible experiences almost every time I've gone to the igmh ER with psych issue. And I've been there over 20 times in the past year. Never spoke about it on any public platform before but I've had enough. @igmhmv please train ER staff on handling psych emergencies (6)
I encourage everyone who have had similar experiences to share it here. If you don't want to share on personal account, make a fake one. Whatever it takes. Lives are at stake. (7)
And for the ignorant people who are definitely out there, just like blister rashes are a symptom of chicken pox, self harm is a symptom of some psychiatric illnesses. If you haven't experienced it before please keep your unempathetic thoughts to yourself. (8)
