-ppl criticizing Olivia Rodrigo for bringing up feeling unattractive for not having European features growing up

yes Olivia is stunning and it’s v great that so many people agree but who are YOU to say she looks white and thus she shouldn’t say she felt unattractive for not having European features. SHE grew up half Asian. You don’t know her experiences. Fuck off.

I don’t know that this was her experience but I will say that growing up Asian in a predominantly non Asian community meant I rarely felt attractive and almost always assumed no guy would have a crush on me. I still do this lmao, I never think anyone is actually interested in me

also this wasn’t because I wanted to be white or w/e but bc the girls everyone said were the prettiest, the ones everyone liked, the celebrities everyone obsessed over? they were all white with features I didn’t have. So why would I ever think I was pretty?

all this to say there are MANY reasons someone of Asian descent could feel unattractive knowing they don’t have European features, even if you perceive them as having said features bc you don’t know what Filipino people look like! jfc
