I was just having a conversation and the reasoning behind Savage Dogs came to the table. I’ve intentionally avoided that topic so far and kept it to myself...
But as I continue to create new pieces, it feels like going over the why behind the work can only make it stronger as it becomes more honest and transparent
The character design exposes two main themes that are constantly present in me, the dog refers to the animal nature in all of us, the good and the bad. The impulses that drive us and how we deal with them.
The skull-like head points at the unavoidable faith we all face. The dead walking animal, the reminder of time scarcity. Both themes are connected to vulnerability and honesty about what we are.
We are savages, but we try not to be and that is what I’m passionate about. Our struggle to be more than just animals. Hope some of you will connect with this.
