❤️LONG ASS LEVI 🐐THREAD❤️

I remember that one of the biggest criticisms of Levi's character post time skip was born from the fact that his arc was not directly related to the main events that were taking place in the manga. +
Many people said that Levi no longer contributed to the story unlike the rest of the "super-relevant-supernova" characters, that he had no role anymore, that he was irrelevant, that he was alive only because he is the favorite blah blah blah+
And then it turned out that it was thanks to his promise to Erwin a.k.a kill Zeke, that he indirectly stopped the rumbling. In addition, Armin was named the "commander" but ultimately the one who gave the orders to the alliance during the final fight was a half dead Levi+
the one who helped Mikasa at first hand to kill Eren was Levi #ACKERHELOSCANON +
Isayama gave Levi a separate role post time skip, a role that -unlike the rest of the cast whose stories were more directly related to the main events and conflicts- was 100% individual. He had one role and desire: fulfill his promise killing Zeke, and honor the deaths of his+
OLD comrades. Levi doesn't openly talk to anyone about his personal issues, not even to Hanji, the last veteran alive along with him. He doesn´t have a say about the conflict, god, literally the first thing that comes out of his mouth after listening to Eren's genocide plans+
and listening to the other last veteran's personal breakdown and outburts was just ask where the fuck Zeke is. He doesn't participate in the alliance talk that happened in the forest because Isayama purposely kept him out of that whole scene making him sleep+
throught the whole fight and group call out/talk, only to wake him up for five seconds to make him complain about the noises. +
I dare to say that eventually this was the reason why Levi managed to get the best closure of all the living characters, precisely because his arc was separated from the rest: Fulfill the vow he made to his beloved Erwin at any cost, and honor the lives of his deceased comrades+
And by deceased comrades I refer solely to the old Survey Corps and their old vision. Isayama wasn't very subtle in differentiating whose lives Levi wanted to honor, and that was shown in the flashbacks from Levi's POV, and every single time Levi had them on his thoughts+
It was always the same group of people: Erwin predominantly, his old squad (Petra, Eld, Oruo, Gunther), the other vets like Mike, Nanaba, and even those soldiers who lost their lives in the suicide charge in RTS.+
Note the fact that even though Sasha was a member of his squad, Levi didn't have her in his memories after her death, not even once. The point is, the deaths that Levi REALLY wanted to give meaning to was the deaths of former SC members, veterans, and all the+
soldiers who gave their lives for the cause, all the deaths that happened pre-time skip. There's a reason why in chapter 139, Levi doesn't even react to the victory of the alliance, doesn't remember Eren, doesn't mention him, and unlike the rest of the cast, he doesn't +
thank him. Instead we have the best scene of the chapter in which Levi SEES all of his old comrades, veterans (and dead boyfriend :P), glad that HE was finally able to give meaning to those deaths in particular. Bc at the end of the day, no one but HIM cared about these deaths+
and the old survey corps.
In 139 we don't see Levi interacting with the scouts. Levi We don't see him honoring Eren. Levi isn't part of the diplomacy group. Levi is not on board of that ship with his old squad and the warriors to visit Eren's grave+
Rather than that, Levi is traveling & enjoying the outside world on his own with Onyan and 2 kids who can finally enjoy their childhood without being forced into adult issues. He's living the life that Erwin and the rest of his old friends wanted him to have & deserved to have+
Now I'm happy enjoying the tears of all the ppl that said Levi was fanservice & useless for the plot as Levi is the only character alive along with Falbi who had a decent ending and closure while everyone else is disappointed with their faves and how Isayama "ruined" them.+
At the end of the day, Levi's character stayed consistent and intact throughout the whole manga.

P.s: Levi GOAT. Levi "now useless fanservice character" outshined your faves. Stan Levi Ackerman if you want to stop crying and complaining.
