A lot of talk about triple-doubles right now. Can’t tell you how many nights Jason Kidd was a rebound or a point or a steal away from a triple-double in 3rd quarter or early fourth blowouts (in the 90’s) — and someone would tell him — and he’d sub himself out. Didn’t care.

He never tried to get a triple-double. Ever. He was just that good. That aggressive. He had that motor.

Jason would play so hard that he would sit in the shower after a game on a chair. For maybe an hour. Completely spent. He would mess up practices because he couldn’t play that hard every single day. He had to save it for games. We understood and we’re like “go sit down fool.”
