sometimes people are like "wwx never suffers the consequences of his actions :/" & every time I& #39;m like [that Tumblr post voice] they very much did kill jesus
pre-timeskip cql could be subtitled "wwx suffers the consequences of his actions"
like are you mad he ALSO gets a happy ending bc you& #39;ll be glad to know he definitely has brain problems his whole life bc of *checks notes* complications related to dying
The thing I think people are hung up on is that OTHER PEOPLE also suffer the consequences of wwx& #39;s actions, & for most of those people things are never quite resolved -- wwx doesn& #39;t anything to "fix" it, or at least doesn& #39;t do ENOUGH, & so his happy ending doesn& #39;t feel ~deserved
but like that& #39;s not bad writing? It& #39;s good writing. It& #39;s how things work--this is not a morality play, it& #39;s a story about a flawed and traumatized person making a whole lot of choices that affect a whole lot of people, & how the people around him feel about those choices
That& #39;s going to be messy! But it& #39;s not our job as reader to decide whether wwx has sufficiently apologized or redeemed himself or regretted his actions or whatever to "earn" his loving marriage. He& #39;s loved because of the person he is, & that person has a lot of unresolved Mess
