I wanna start this off by saying i myself am a singlet, but i compiled this thread with the help of systems! U can feel free to promo in the replies and add on.
Don’t fakeclaim. “you don’t have DID/OSDD” “you aren’t ___”
Don’t ask if there is a “dangerous” or “evil” alter. How media portrays DID/OSDD is not how systems actually are. There is no such thing as a murderous alter.
Don’t compare, fetishize, or be weird to alters. If there’s an introject of someone you really like doesn’t mean you can treat them weird.
Don’t seperate introjects from their sources! These can also be delusions, there are plenty of systems who deal with psychosis.
Don’t treat them like they’re all the same. All alters are different, so treat them like it, not like you already know them.
Don’t headcanon characters or make characters that are just stereotypes of DID/OSDD. This is harmful and only further enforces stigma.
Only being nice to the host or a certain alter. Don’t say “i only wanna talk to __” or asking for someone to front
Don’t ask personal questions!
Don’t treat or assume introjects are exactly like their source.
Be there for your system friends. Ask them what they need support with, and be mindful of them.
