Wow, a high follow count trans woman (who will not see this post, as I’ve blocked her for other reasons) is asserting that “few trans women” were perceived as cis men and that those of us who ever were are oppressing her if we speak about our pretransition experiences
If she had just said that people should keep in mind that many people experienced various forms of gender-based oppression and violence (her terms, I believe) before transitioning, that would be fine. I’d even say it resonates with my experience, but it doesn’t have to
But she claimed trans women who didn’t come off as somehow queer before transition are an extreme minority, and I find that as downright insulting as she finds... people like me talking about our experiences?
I mean, she literally reads like my dad when I first came out 8 years ago. “There were no signs.” Just because you had obvious signs doesn’t mean we all did, lady
