THREAD 1/6: The profound challenges that our country is now facing are the reason we created this party, and why our work is even more urgent and vital. So we will continue to fight - today, then tomorrow and the next day - for as long as it takes to achieve equality.
2/6: We are of course disappointed not to have won our first regional seat. But we are also immensely proud of our candidates, activists and members across the country who stood up to the fear and division created by the far-right and offered instead a vision for a brighter
3/6: and more equal future. WE are grateful to the thousands of voters who joined with us to say #EnoughIsEnough and who refused to let violence against women and girls drop off the political agenda. And we are thrilled to continue working with Joanne Anderson in Liverpool
4/6: to make sure every woman can live free from the fear of violence - following her historic win. We fought hard in this campaign for investment in our social infrastructure - health, social care, education, childcare -in the wake of a pandemic that showed how much we all rely
5/6: on it and the (mostly) women who do this crucial work for poverty wages. And we hope at every turn to have been a resolute voice for women and girls. Finally, we would like to congratulate @Amandajane_CP from our @WEPMiltonKeynes branch who has just been elected
