Sadiq’s confidence & ambition around active travel has grown throughout his first term. ULEZ expansion, healthy streets & protected bike lanes now cornerstones of @LondonLabour’s committement to the city. /2
Councils like @IslingtonBC have been pushing forward with @IslingtonLabour’s ambitious #PeopleFriendlyStreets programmes.

Rolling out low traffic neighbourhoods to create space for walking & cycling for the young and old. /3
Anti-LTN campaigners have been given huge coverage on LBC, TalkRadio and the BBC as well as local papers, The Mail, Telegraph, Times, Economist and Spectator.

Anti-LTN candidates came last in each seat they stood in

Hackney’s ambitious programme for healthier, greener streets also got resounding support with by-election candidates.

Mayor @PhilipGlanville clear about the imperative to rebalance streets and ensure they work for all. 5/
At the London Assembly level it was great to see @anne_clarke & @Semakaleng newly elected to the @CityHallLabour. They understand the need to make our streets safer for all. 6/
Interesting, London results saw the Conservative vote significantly down in areas where councils like @wandbc & @RBKC have blocked @TFL active travel schemes.

It is NOT posssible to win in a city like London without an ambitious plan for Active Travel. 7/
Oxford City Council, who have been implementing LTN’s in Cowley under @CllrTomHayes ‘s leadership saw local councillors in Cowley & Cowley Marsh elected by very large margins. 8/
In Liverpool @Joanne4Mayor and @MetroMayorSteve’s have an outstanding mandate to deliver greener, healthier & safer streets for the city & build on the pop-up lanes created during Covid.

Labour in Wales also now have now a renewed mandate to build on the work of Lee Waters @Amanwy (also re-elected this week) to ensure walking and cycling everyday in Wales increases and we fulfill the potential of the 2013 Active Travel Act (Wales). 10/
Labour councillors & mayors have made the policy links between short jouneys & public health, successful local shops, access to jobs & a safer, greener recovery.

‘Active travel for the many, not just the brave’ is the right
thing to do.
