Thread:

1) The other day, an ex-343 artist made some comments about Halo Infinite that I shared in order to make a broader point about the games industry at large. I shared them in part because I'd heard similar things from several others at 343: https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1390307075075411969
2) Today, the artist made a video walking back his comments and complaining about reporters running articles citing him without contacting him first (a very reasonable complaint). Since then I've gotten hundreds of abusive comments from Xbox fanboys accusing me of doing the same.
3) None of the fanboys in question appear to realize that I never actually wrote an article. Much of this has been triggered by a single obsessive Reddit user who got a lot of attention on a few subreddits and Twitter threads. The nastiness has been off the charts.
4) The broader point, however, is that most of the originally mentioned issues (vision shifts, technical debt, "passion" leading to extra hours) are true. They're true not only of Halo Infinite but of many AAA games. Which is what I originally said, and what remains true today.
5) I will continue liberally blocking Xbox fanboys and anyone else who annoys me because that's the only way to use Twitter sanely. As always, I am forever grateful for all of my readers who are not shitheads. Have a nice day.
