Thinking more about menstruation and cultural stuff. https://twitter.com/masamage/status/1391075032755957761">https://twitter.com/masamage/...
Even though "menstruators" is more accurate than "women" in at least four ways when discussing reproductive needs, I have sympathy with the people who instinctively hate it. It sounds disgusting and it feels reductive.
Having a period isn& #39;t something that makes me a gross PERSON, but it certainly is an EVENT that is, for me, gross (and painful, and expensive, and fraught with anxiety). I& #39;m not ashamed of it, but I will feel like MORE of a woman when it& #39;s gone, simply because I& #39;ll be happier.
Suffering is NOT part of my identity, gender or otherwise. I specifically hate suffering and don& #39;t want to do it.

(This despite the fact that I& #39;ve only ever been pregnant on purpose! I have three beautiful kids! I learned a lot from having miscarriages! Carrying life in my body was incredible and joyous and awful! I actively tried to mitigate the pain and discomfort because OBVIOUSLY?!)
Anyway. I don& #39;t want to be "a menstruator" any more than I want to be "a pooper," but in my experience, we& #39;re all pretty much in agreement that it& #39;s not an ideal term. I& #39;m not weird in the pro-trans crowd for this opinion.
"People with menstrual cycles" is the term to beat, IMO.

It doesn& #39;t immediately bring to mind the matter of what& #39;s happening in my pants right this second, and more importantly, it covers the many other cycle-related healthcare needs: ovulation, PMS, that one normal week, menopause, amenorrhea.
Sometimes we do need a blanket medical term for the ovary-associated peak of the bimodal sex characteristic distribution. I think "female" probably could have worked, as it does in the rest of the animal kingdom, but misogynist scientists ruined that before we were born.
This thread brought to you by thinking once again about how PWMC have our highest levels of testosterone during ovulation, suggesting it& #39;s a hormone of friendliness and energy more than anger and aggression. It& #39;s the *drop* in T that makes us miserable.
In other words, my dudes, your girl is probably horniest when she has the most testosterone.
This whole thing was just an excuse to type the sentence: "Fellas, is it gay to ovulate?"
