Decided to try and level up my JS skills this morning by doing some leetcode problems. It got unbearable after a while. None of these problems are remotely close to problems you have to solve in real-world systems, and I work in an algorithm-heavy domain, compilers.
Everything is just a "learn the clever trick" kind of thing, gross. Anyone who actually hires based on this stuff is delusional.
I did get to learn about function declarations vs. function expressions and how hoisting works, which is kinda neat but does highlight that JS is a very complicated language
If you get asked in an interview to come up with the O(log n) solution to finding the median of two sorted arrays, you have my permission to tell them to eat your ass instead
