Thread:
1-We hear n see every Tom Dick and Harry in Pakistan point out GDP figure to raise fingers at @ImranKhanPTI @PTIofficial govt. This thread will prove to u that GDP is not the only indicator of a sustainable econ, actually, it provides an incomplete picture; here is how👇
2-a)GDP tracks aggregate economy,nt sensitive to gains and losses of economic activity within society; b)It doesn't account for the depletion of existing natural,physical,human n social assets; c)GDP doesn't track factors tht matter for well being of society. So How shud we?👇
3-We must look at HDI (Human Development Index) which has become a widely accepted measure of human progress since the 1990s. Here, the latest figures of HDI+ relevant factors in Pakistan which have only kept improving in @PTIofficial govt despite diffic times👇
@agentjay2009
4-Next, the Quality of life index, which considers multiple factors like:
living cost n purchasing power
Affordability of housing
Pollution including air, water, etc.
Crime rates
Health system quality
Commute times
Pak fares better than neighbours @PTIofficial @AamnaFasihi
5- There is always much hue and cry over inflation figures but no one looks towards the existing "Cost of living index" Pakistan has one of the lowest cost of living in the world. In Asia, as shown in the table, Pakistan hs the lowest cost of living: 👇
@PTIofficial @javedhassan
6-On Cost of living, I compared two cities, Lahore (Pakistan) and Bangalore (India). These are two big cities of the neighbouring countries; I compared consumer prices, rents, restaurants, groceries and local purchasing power. Lahore fares better in most of the indicators 👇
7-You would need around 236,259.91Rs. in Bangalore to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with 190,000.00Rs. in Lahore (assuming you rent in both cities). Below are the results of all indicators individually: 👇

8-Coming back to the Quality of life index(See graph), comparing major cities worldwide for living cost, purchasing power, Affordability of housing, Pollution, Crime rates, Health system, and Commute times. @hamzashafqaat wd b happy to see this. Islamabad😍
Concluding: GDP doesn't tell the whole story of the economy. Several indicators (As shown) wd give you a more in-depth view (more focused on society). Plz share(took ages to research) as I would like +ve debate on it. @PTIofficial @AamnaFasihi @MusaNV18 #PakistanMovingForward
