Someone I know bought hens and then realized she was in over her head. She basically told me “I don’t think these chickens are healthy, but idk what’s wrong. Do you know anyone who will kill them?”

So that’s how I’m getting back into chickens, bc I couldn’t just let them die. 🤦🏼‍♀️
I’m not kidding, here’s the relevant part of the convo. Basically a shady dealer sold her 4 older, wormy hens who are in molt. And the lady won’t listen to me that hens always look bad when they’re tired and molting, and that they’ll probably improve with time and good feed. 🙄
Anyway, they’ll be here in 3 hours to deliver the hens I wasn’t planning on and definitely don’t need. 😂
This whole thing just really rubs me the wrong way.
-The kid (teen) didn’t research enough before convincing the parent to get hens.
-The dealer knew they were newbies, sold them sick hens, and lied about the birds’ age.
-The parent decided killing the hens was the best option.
Oh, also!!!! They had already asked me to help them find good laying hens, and I was working on it. If they had just had one ounce of patience I could’ve found them some young, healthy hens who would’ve fit right into their family with zero problems. But they had to rush it. 🤦🏼‍♀️
