Someone I know bought hens and then realized she was in over her head. She basically told me âI donât think these chickens are healthy, but idk whatâs wrong. Do you know anyone who will kill them?â
So thatâs how Iâm getting back into chickens, bc I couldnât just let them die.

Iâm not kidding, hereâs the relevant part of the convo. Basically a shady dealer sold her 4 older, wormy hens who are in molt. And the lady wonât listen to me that hens always look bad when theyâre tired and molting, and that theyâll probably improve with time and good feed.

Anyway, theyâll be here in 3 hours to deliver the hens I wasnât planning on and definitely donât need.

This whole thing just really rubs me the wrong way.
-The kid (teen) didnât research enough before convincing the parent to get hens.
-The dealer knew they were newbies, sold them sick hens, and lied about the birdsâ age.
-The parent decided killing the hens was the best option.

Oh, also!!!! They had already asked me to help them find good laying hens, and I was working on it. If they had just had one ounce of patience I couldâve found them some young, healthy hens who wouldâve fit right into their family with zero problems. But they had to rush it.
