Ok, this is one of my favorite things about collecting! Just as tracking down books for your collection leads to discoveries about the material itself, it also naturally leads you to make new connections with people who have similar interests. https://twitter.com/honeyandwaxbks/status/1391066602452434945
Take the romance rare book collection I'm building for work. As I was working on it, I asked @selinger_eric if he knew anyone who would be interested in talking through some aspects of it with me. He suggested @lazaraspaste, whose conversations have been very grounding for me.
Then @lazaraspaste pushed me to talk with Andrea at @ShelfLovePod -- a podcast I already casually listened to. We recently recorded an episode about the romance collection: https://shelflovepodcast.com/episodes/season-2/episode-88/088-9-reasons-why-rare-romance-books-matter-with-rebecca-romney-number-7-will-surprise-you/
And my constant frustration with the secondhand market and romances has been the source of many a shared venting between myself & @arkhamlibrarian & @stegan -- which in turn led us to proposing a panel for @RBMSinfo on collecting romance. One connection kept leading to another!
Next question for @honeyandwaxbks: what are your hopes or plans for the collection(s) you're building?
