7 Life Changing Stoic Codes:

Stoic principles and practices stand for mental strength and virtue.

They assist you assert willpower in the pursuit of your goals.

These ideas help you live up to your highest ideals.
1. Focus on what you can control.

“A flight is delayed because of weather - no amount of yelling at an airline representative will end a storm”.

We are better off, mentally and emotionally, when we spend our time working on what we can influence.
2. Act according to virtue.

Do the right thing, in the right way and for the right reasons.

If you don’t act according to your moral code, success is meaningless and you are going to be unhappy.

If you stick to lies, dishonesty, cheating, life has no purpose.

Live in virtue.
3. Exercise Amor Fati

“It is like a fire mastering whatever falls into it”.

Think of all obstacles and difficulties are fuel and opportunities.

Amor Fati is the love for the fate.

Nothing slows you down as everything is taking you exactly in the direction you want to go.
4. Set your expectations low.

“It is the unexpected that puts the heaviest load upon us”.

The happy person realizes things are not always going to go their way by seeing things honestly and accurately.

Be fluid and think a bit in advance of the worst scenario.
5. The obstacle is the way.

If you make a mistake, it’s a chance to practice forgiveness to yourself.

Use obstacles as a chance to see them as opportunities to practice different virtues.

“The obstacle in the path is the path”.
6. Your ego is your enemy.

“You cannot learn that which you think you already know”.

Thinking the world spins around you will lead to a rudely awakening when you crash down to the ground.

Question whether your actions fuel superiority in arrogance, or if they fuel humility.
7. Sympatheia.

As individualistic as we are, stoics are aware that we are, in essence, a small part of a large organism.

Ask yourself: how can I be a better citizen of the planet?

Strive for being more selfless rather than more selfish within your relationships.
