tweeted this on Tuesday but eh fuck it, retweeting it again: I don't expect continuity/canon to ever be airtight but is it too much to ask that they not completely rewrite events to fit in whoever the new characters of the week are https://twitter.com/SarahDemp/status/1389706597362978819
like lol I'm not exactly a canon purist or think it's sacrosanct but I feel like there's still room to express frustration that some people are allowed to play fast and loose just because they created the characters and therefore aren't beholden to what other writers created
like if the only idea you had to intro your new characters was to rewrite a comic arc that's basically not relevant at all, that seems like a you problem 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
does this ruin the show for me? nah. does it make me annoyed? yes. I recognize it's negligible in the grand scheme of things but it's still frustrating
am I also annoyed that they took a really well-done tragic story and turned it into the bad batch making jokes about dumb normies? ALSO YES, I'M UNREASONABLY ANNOYED
idk!!! just feel like a lot of the canon discourse is people talking past each other!!!!! and yes I know i'm contributing to it by typing out this thread!!!!! oh well!!!!!
