There has never been a better time to be a content creator. Everything your parents told you about making money on the internet is wrong! A thread:
It's easy to be cynical of modern content creation phenomenons. YouTuber making millions? Oh, it's because he/she is good looking. NFTs? Oh, that's a scam. Paid newsletters? That's stupid, I can get my news for free. Clubhouse? That's just a fad.
We need to realize that the world never moves backwards, only forwards. We must ask ourselves: what does all this mean?
I believe that every unique human experience has inherent value, regardless of what society approves of. I believe that the internet is inevitably moving towards a direction where everyone will be compensated accordingly.
You have a story. Experiences. Struggles. Beliefs. Hopes. Dreams. And somewhere in this world, there exists an individual who can relate to you at a deep personal level. That individual wants you to keep sharing your story. that individual wants you to succeed.
The internet will allow all attention and interactions to be tokenized and monetized. People will vote with their dollars. We can already see it happening now.
Some people may see that as dystopian, but like all major societal shifts, there is always a good side and a bad side.
In the distant far future, you will be compensated for any unique piece of content that is consumed - whether by humans or machines. Machines will be happy to pay you to keep creating anything that fuels their learning models, even if it's at a fraction of human attention.
If you're thinking about starting something, go for it! Create for that one person in the world who can relate to you and wants you to succeed. Create for that one person who will subscribe to your Patreon.
Then find the second person. Then the third person. It will be a marathon, not a race. Your audience is waiting.
This thread was written for my friends living in Japan who are thinking of starting a YouTube channel. Go for it, guys!
