Thread on my thoughts of all Carlisle United players this season. This took a long time so RT's very welcome. Let me know your thoughts also.

Farman had impressed me throughout the season, shot-stopping wise and his flawless distribution. I would love him to stay as number one next season as I think he has the quality to be one of the best keepers in the league. He's quick coming off his line and can read the game 1/3
pretty well. He has also saved 2 penalties this season as well. He has kept 14 clean sheets in 41 matches for the Blues. What I like about him is that he has a loud voice (what Beech described as football Tourette's) and keeps everyone on their toes and commands his penalty 2/3
area very well. 3/3
Nick Anderton has had a season of ups and downs. The skipper has scored 2 goals for United this season including his great strike versus Tranmere. He has also assisted 3 goals for him teammates. The problem is he lacks a bit of pace and needs to work on his tackles 1/2
and 1v1 scenarios and positioning. Nick has struggled to get game time in recent weeks with Armer in good form, Beech has tried playing him as a centre-half accompanying Hayden and this quite frankly hasn’t gone to plan. Wherever he is playing next season I wish him luck. 2/2
Aaron Hayden has had a fantastic season under Chris Beech. His aerial presence is felt in both boxes including scoring 5 times. He was also trialed at right-back when Tanner was injured but he plays a lot better in the middle of defence. He is a focal point of long throws 1/2
and corners which he wins 80% of all aerial duels. His partnership with Bennett could arguably be one of the best in the division. I’m pretty sure that all Carlisle fans would say Hayden has been one of our best performers this season. 2/2
Rhys Bennett signed for the Blues mid November until the end of January which got extended to the end of the season after proving his worth. He added some experience into a relatively young team. Similarly to Hayden, Rhys has also scored 5 goals (he claims 6) this season. 1/2
He has slotted into the United defence perfectly after McDonald has proving a liability. Bennett also has an aerial presence in both boxes. He scored 3 goals in his first 5 games for the club. Bennett is one of the best defenders in League 2 and Carlisle would be very lucky 2/3
to keep hold of him next season. 3/3
Rod McDonald signed with Carlisle in the summer on a 2-year-deal. He has had previous promotions from this division with Northampton and Wimbledon so he was added for some experience at the back, however things hasn’t gone smoothly for Rod this season. He has looked very 1/2
solid in a few games this season but also very shaky in quite a few appearances including the Barrow away game. I do hope he finds a bit of form but as things are going I doubt he will be a constant starter in the 2021/22 season. 2/2
George Tanner has looked to be a very good signing for Beech’s blues this season. After working up the ranks at Manchester United he's been to a couple of League 2 clubs on loan in the past. George has scored 2 goals this season including his wonderful goal against Morecambe 1/2
earlier in the season. He has cemented his place in the Blues back line for another year. 2/2
Jack Armer really impressed me in the latter half of the season. He managed to keep skipper Anderton on the bench after hitting some great form. He has played all over the back line but when called up he’s performed. He has a really good pass on him and he’s mostly accurate 1/2
with them. I wouldn’t mind seeing him as our starting left-back next year with a bit more experience. 2/2
John Mellish has had a season never to forget. He has scored 16 goals this season in all competitions. He started the season as a defender but Beech moved him into the midfield 3 and it didn’t start of too well and people were getting criticized but Mellish then went on an 1/3
immense goal scoring run which surpassed other Carlisle United records. One performance that impressed me was his late brace against Hayes & Yeading in the FA Cup sent the game to penalties which Carlisle prevailed. Mellish has proved vital in the midfield 2/2
Joe Riley came to the club after getting written off at Bradford with injuries. Most Carlisle fans will agree with me when I say Riley has been one of our best players this season and his work rates are phenomenal. He has got 2 goals and 3 assists including his volley 1/2
against Stevenage. He also wins the ball back a lot in the midfield which helps Carlisle move forward. Hope he stays injury free next year and then we can seriously push for promotion. 2/2
Callum Guy is probably most fans player of the year and this is all down to his incredible set-piece delivery and his work in the midfield (tackles and interception). He has got 14 assists to his name in the league which tops the division and this is due to wind wand of a 1/2
right foot and having the right people in the penalty area. He recently had his contract extended by a further year which shows how well Beech was impressed. 2/2
I haven’t seen much as Taylor Charters this season but I do believe he has a good future at the club. He impressed me in the Walsall away victory where he set up Patrick for the first showing great composure. I hope to see him make some impact next season. 1/1
Omari Patrick has had an average season in my eyes. He has looked very threatening at times especially with his pace and he does love a good skill move which is always lovely to watch. He’s chipped in with 5 goals and 2 assists. I would’ve liked him to get more goals and 1/2
assists but his goal against Crawley made up for it. He tends to go for that curling effort into the top corner to often for my liking as he pulls it off once in a while but overall he’s had a decent season. 2/2
Lewis Alessandra has got 11G/A this season in 44 matches in the league. He is a versatile forward and can play anywhere in the front 3. He is good at holding it up and bringing other players into the game. He is really our only creative guy in the front 3 dropping in to pick 1/2
the ball up. He has had a solid season and he hit 500 club appearances a few games ago, well done. He is a professional on the pitch adding in experience into a relatively young team. Overall, I’ve been pleasantly impressed by him this season 2/2
Gime Toure has had a rollercoaster of a season. He has looked so threatening and menacing at times, sending defenders all over the shop. He has the pace and footwork to be an amazing winger, but he lacks the end product. He has got into so many promising positions but the 1/2
final cross or shot seems to have failed multiple times. I want him to be part of the United team next season but it doesn’t look likely so far. He did miss some games due to personal reasons and I wish him the best of luck in the future. 2/2
Joshua (JJ) Kayode has had a good season for Carlisle, but has looked lethargic at times. His has a very good aerial threat winning a few of Farman’s long balls. At only 20 years of age he still has a promising future ahead of him and looks to be in Rotherham’s front line 1/3
next season in League 1. I just felt this season he has a bit more to give and he backs out of challenges, for a man of his size you would expect him to get stuck in but he seems quite a soft player. However, he looks like a natural goalscorer which has helped Carlisle in the 2/3
last few games. 3/3
Offrande Zanzala came in to a promotion pushing Carlisle United in January. He looked very raw in his first few appearances for the club, but then he went on a goal scoring run after nicking a late draw against Grimsby Town at home. He then went on a goal scoring run which 1/2
included my goal of the season (Zanzala’s goal against Southend). 2/2
Magnus Norman has look fairly decent in net, including saving a penalty, in his few appearances for the club. The season hasn’t quite gone his way after spending the majority on the bench, but what can you expect when Farman is in the squad. 1/1
Brennan Dickenson has been unfortunate with his injuries this year. He has held the nickname of League 2 Messi but what we saw of him, he looks fairly average. Hopefully we can see a better version of him next year.
1/1
Dean Furman has spent most of the season on the subs bench. He is an amazing professional on and mainly off the pitch. Things haven’t gone quite his way and will leave the club in order to find first team football.
1/1
Ethan Walker’s loan got cut short after picking up an injury but in January we loaned him in again until the end of he season. He looked bright and sparky at times (especially Harrogate at home). He found it hard to get game time.
1/1
Danny Devine looked like a very good midfielder but unfortunately injuries has kept him out of the team. He looked good at the right-back position also. Hopefully next year he will be playing often for the blues.
