I don't know who needs to hear this but there are First Nation peoples born in the United States.
There are Native Americans born in Canada. There are Indigenous people from all over the world born in different places around the world, in urban and rural communities.
And you know what.....no matter where it is that Indigenous people are born, displaced, migrated, residing...no matter where it is that they call home, they are still Indigenous and they still belong.
They are still impacted by the issues facing their people whether they are local or global. Our experiences and realities are vast and diverse. No matter where we are, it doesn't make any of us more or less Indigenous. We are who we are.
That's what we teach my nieces who are Native and Korean, born and living in S. Korea.
