After a lot of contemplation, I thought of putting this down finally. First of all, I am no expert on Covid but sharing this, just as a person who has recently recovered from it. Amidst all the fear & grief, I would be really happy if even one person would be able to get an (1)
ounce of positivity from my experience.
I had contracted it while travelling back to India. I had to undergo a Rapid Test at the Kolkata airport, which surprisingly was negative, maybe because a Rapid Test is not conclusive in itself. The symptoms started on the 3rd day (2)
& I immediately isolated myself. It was tough coz I was home after 1.5 years but my family's safety was our priority. Anyways, I had to wait another 2 days for the RT-PCR test (due to the low number of staff & centers in our town).
(3)
My symptoms were high fever, a blocked nose, cough and severe body ache. I had lost my sense of smell & taste partially & quite predictably, the Covid report showed that I couldn't escape the virus afterall. (4)
In spite of all the double masks (including a PPE mask), the constant use of sanitizers & every protection that's possible, Corona managed to find its way through😶
Anyways, more than how I contracted it, to what I did later on, is more important (5)
My father being a doctor, he prescribed me Doxy 100, Ivermectin 12.5, Calpol 650 for the fever, Vitamin C tablets like Celine, Zincovit, vapour 3 times daily along (6)
gargles with warm water. Apart from this, the usual household techniques like breathing exercises, ginger tea, kadha once a day helped a lot. Monitoring the oxygen level is a must too. Physical health aside, covid really takes a toll on one's mental health & I was no different(7)
Kept myself sane through various techniques like video calls, books, movies, talking to friends etc but with a constant fear of spreading the virus to my parents. That fear though subisided after 10 days & I slowly began recovering. Weakness & a little bit of cough & cold (8)
aside, I was feeling much better & it was time for me to end the isolation period. Didn't go for a second test coz it's not recommended unless one still has symptoms & I was in quarantine for exactly 17 days, so I wouldn't be spreading the virus anymore. (9)
It was a tough time but I am over it now. I count myself lucky to have made it through though with the huge support system that I have, including all of you 💗 Also, being positive once does NOT give me the privilege of being careless henceforth!! (10)
Being a very private person, I was not very open to the idea of sharing my experience, did it only because a dear friend encouraged me to do so:) Hope you give it a read ☺️
