Want to hear an ordinary wee love story?
I was looking through old pictures wanting to remember #Clovelly in Devon where a date took me one Saturday in August 1999. How cute are these! This was our third date btw although I totally kissed him on the 1st date too.

We drove from Stratford upon Avon all the way to Clovelly that day in his anniversary racing green Lotus Elise (‘the baby Lo’). We had our first kiss in that car, but that’s not the story.

I was 20. Twenty! There was a huge eclipse that summer, everything felt kind of magical, to me anyway. I’d left home and gone all eat, pray, love but academic nerd style. While working as a tour guide in Stratford I went on a blind date with this guy.

4 days later we got engaged - the day after these pictures were taken at Clovelly. People who knew us were, ahem, extremely surprised and a few not very pleased. They thought it was over hasty which of course it was, but that is love I guess.

It wasn’t always easy being married so young (at 21) and we did the long distance thing leading right up to the wedding. But we were meant to be together. Twenty years married, there’s no Lotus (a Kia’s better for the kids ) & we can’t drive to Devon at the drop of a hat

But we’re here and holding on to each other even though we’re feeling old and a bit knackered and every selfie we take gets bombed now. Thank goodness for that lovely summer and the magic of Stratford and Clovelly.

I bloody love Love Stories! That’s why I read them, and write them too. Ok, am off to the supermarket for a romantic day out xx cheerio, Kiley
