So now that i'm kinda putting down DS2 for a bit i need a new way to torture myself, and, well,,,
chapter 1 wasn't so bad, but being presented with this many dudes right from the getgo was A Lot

So far the Capture system is by far the weirdest thing about this game, but i'm kinda digging it
(i should also say i am abusing the shit out of savestates and you should too if you play any FE. just call them divine pulses)
I'm up to chapter 2x now, and guess what this game introduced to the series
anyway the first chapter took forever because i was given 8 units and no idea whomst i should and shouldn't be using and also like 20 systems to learn but chapter 2 went a bit quicker. Leif blows for now but i'm making it work
Fatigue is probably going to start becoming relevant in this or the next chapter, which, Oh Boy
Random super weird mechanics: Vigor! Every character has 0-5 Vigor stars. For each star, every time a character ends their turn they get a +5% chance to just be allowed to go again. That means Ronan here gets a 15% chance to go again every single turn. Lmao
Oh cool, the game has a talk convo about Capturing a unit and not letting them go to recruit them. Honestly i keep being surprised by how similar this game is to FE6 overall. I originally went from 7 back to 4, which was such a culture shock, but this feels like the bridge
i have been told this man is a monster, so this pleases me
You can trade any number of times in one turn in this game, which is really good because you need to trade with captured enemies to steal their shit. this game is definitely an inventory-management nightmare, lmao
lmfao tanya has gotten 3 str ups on a 35% growth, i guess i have my Rebecca
Super cool quality of life feature that i think was replaced with auto-end in future titles: if you press the "next unit" button when no one is actionable it actually takes you to the menu to make it easier to end your turn when you can't do anything
oh yes, ohhhhh yes
what the fuck, 4 levels 4 str 35% growth
btw Con (invented in this game) has a growth, and Halvan is getting Thicc
okay, Martin, you have my attention
last pic before stream but there's basically an infinite supply of axemen to level on here and you know what, i'm taking it
oh, did this game invent ana too?
man, Thracia is really Having A Normal One in the year 776, huh
Tanya _stop_
So, i have in fact been told that the real demon's souls begins here
lol, every Fire Emblem has at least one of both of These Guys
anyway, i have now been given _5_ totally new units i'll need to evaluate, soooo time for some readin'
okay, did my reading, now to look at what I'm up aga- ah
I have to go to work but I gotta be honest, my initial impressions of FE5 (with save states) are extremely positive. This game is horseshit but in a really interesting way, I guess?
Note that "(with save states)" is doing a tremendous amount of heavy lifting here. Divine Pulses cut the risk down exponentially and make it so I can actually try things and enjoy what is cool about the game without one mistake/bad set of rolls losing hours for me
DO YOU THINK THEY'RE THE BADDIES
What happens to you if I [Escape] first?
I'm kind of impressed that this game does tutorialize this much, even if it's kiiiind of obtuse. For reference anyone still on the map in Escape chapters when Leif leaves is gone for i think the majority of the game
this girl (give or take some hair dye) has been a pegasus knight in every single fire emblem game ever made
lol the very first thing she did when i gave her a sword was crit the shit out of the first of 60 turns of soldier reinforcements. I think I like you, Karin
There is a slight roadblock on the way out of the prison
wait holy shit is that a point of Con on her 5% growth (while she dodge tanks that whole room of dudes, lmao)
Side note i only just realized, but crits in this game are actually only 2x damage, but that 2x is applied to attack damage _before_ enemy defense, which is absolutely wild
this is getting complicatedddddd
Got out! annnnnd oh, it turns out the Child Sacrifice Chamber was right in the middle of the prison the whole time! Who knew!
Oh, cool, the gaiden chapter is actually basically a continuation of the previous one, blasting even further out of the prison and freeing more children

That's actually pretty neat
Jail 2: the Sequel to Jail coming in hot

(btw your first mage is in this gaiden chapter and yeah if you don't get it you don't get him, lmao)
also his name is, unfortunately, Asbel
oh if he's gay that's fine then
here's the mage I willlll not be getting, holding possibly the most broken weapon in Fire Emblem history, Forseti

Fun fact, in FE4 it only gives +10 skill, so in this one it's even more bullshit
I will instead be grabbing this guy and holding him back to stop his incredible murder rampage, because I need the exp
Asbel is actually no slouch, particularly with that FCM of 3 and Grafcalibur being a tome with 40 fucking crit, lmao
Trying not to make this thread 100% unparse-able level up screens but ohhhh shit leif i really hope i can keep this
