Have noticed that several kattar hindutva types ( among ordinary supporters )are the ones who go hammer and tongs on the economy and politically actually turn against the BJP faster than so called rayta wing. And many of them actually don't mind voting Congress also later

Reason for this could be
1. that some of these could also be ones most impacted by the economy: like those running small business types. So for all their crowing about hindutva, ultimately they need economy to function well for their own benefit.

2. Many of them are politically very naive and have no idea of the compromises politics entails

So its actually sections ( but not all of them) of the so called rayta wing which actually are among the more consistent supporters of the govt. Ofcourse some others in this wing are also afraid of possibly getting canceled and can shift fast when momentum turns

But overall moral is this: BJp needs to cultivate an elite that determines ideology for them. An elite that is largely loyal , an elite that is largely economy agnostic and an elite whose feedback should be among primary inputs for BJP to formulate ideology

Ideology shouldn't be left to masses, wil get pulled in different direction. Mood of the masses is an important electoral input but elites and the party leadership should determine direction

There is a reason bjp which is a political wing generally has smarter people than RSS, some of whose ppl even work for Congress at times if they have some spite with some BJP leaders etc, though it is against their own interest
