It’s rambling time!

This going to be all waffle (and apparently incredibly long). I don’t really expect anyone to see it. I’m just shouting into the void of the internet and seeing what happens.

This going to be all waffle (and apparently incredibly long). I don’t really expect anyone to see it. I’m just shouting into the void of the internet and seeing what happens.

Before I start I do want to say that if anyone comes across this and finds anything I say uneducated, misguided or tasteless please don’t hesitate to tell me. I’ll delete/reword/retweet anything I need to in order to fix any mistake that I may make. [1/19]
Okay, now I begin. I just want to talk about how twitter reacts to content creators doing something some may consider problematic, at least how the side of twitter I, my main account, reside in reacts. [2/19]
Of course I can’t speak for all sides of twitter, the internet is an echo chamber of course. You surround yourself with a particular type of content that’s the only type of content you’ll end up seeing. [3/19]
I guess I should start with the main event that made me really start to ponder this. This ‘event’ being when #/TechnotwtAppreciation was trending. [4/19]
The tag was meant for people to express their appreciation for those they’ve met while being a part of Technotwt. While there were some wonderful people on the tag. People were also doxxing Technoblade, insulting the people a part of the technotwt community or just + [5/19]
blatantly misusing the tag. Doxxing someone and bullying people on the internet will NEVER be okay or acceptable, that is something I will always standby. As to why people would rather hurt others than bring attention to important issues is beyond me. [6/19]
However, I’m not going to sit here and claim that all the people misusing the hashtag are ‘antis’ a lot of them are minorities who were hurt by techno’s actions and find discomfort in his content. While their anger and hurt may be expressed in a harmful way I can + [7/19]
understand the frustration in seeing Techno still being supported despite the fact he hasn’t apologised for the things that he has done; even if the initial intention of those things weren’t harmful the pain was still felt but a lot of communities. [8/19]
I then started to think about all the content creators who were asked to take responsibility for their actions and did. For example, Karl Jacobs, Andivmg, Dream, Fundy and Minx, among others. [10/19]
All of them have, in my opinion at least, given genuine apologies, taken the time to educate themselves and have been honest. Of course, there are still hurt people who will probably never be able to consume their content again, people who may never be able to forgive + [11/19]
their actions. However, I guess I ask those who have been hurt, what do you want those who aren’t affected by these content creators’ actions or words to do? [12/19]
A lot of us try our hardest to uplift voices and ensure that we don’t drown out valid opinions with ours that aren’t needed. Despite the fact that some of our favourite content creators are among those who have done wrong we still retweet threads calling them out. [12/19]
But when the situation has been addressed, are we allowed to continue enjoying their content? Are we allowed to continue supporting them despite the fact we are in no place to accept apologies? [13/19]
I guess what I want is a genuine conversation. Which on twitter is pretty much impossible to ask for, I must admit. But I just want a little direction. [14/19]
I’m still educating myself and still learning what is acceptable and what is not, despite being in some of the minority communities myself there is always something to learn from people who aren’t like me. [15/19]
And of course, it is never a person’s duty to educate someone who is ignorant. But I do think a conversation is to be had. Tell us how we can continue to enjoy the things we do (or if we have to completely stop supporting someone entirely) while still uplifting voices + [16/19]
that are yet to be heard, while still ensure justice is served, while still being the best allies with we can be. [17/19]
I’m very aware of how long this thread is and once again I ask you inform me if you come across something I have said that has hurt you. If you reached this point, I’m so happy you took the time to read what I’ve said, even if you disagree with everything. [18/19]
If anything is unclear or just plain wrong, again, don’t hesitate to tell me.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
