Another day, another staunch refusal on my behalf to appreciate Brutalist architecture

Sorry, I'm fully aware of its egalitarian and utilitarian design intent, I know there's a philosophically sound justification for all of it

I still hate it

"But Spike, the concrete shells on those public and government buildings that utilize Brutalism are meaningful statements on how highly that organization values thrift and efficiency, opting for simplicity in lieu of needless and costly ornamentation"

OKAY COOL, STILL THO: BARF
"Okay, we both know you are just picking the ugliest Brutalist structure you can find."

YES

And while I acknowledge Brutalist buildings can have interesting shapes? I'd still argue "beautiful" Brutalism is something that happens in SPITE of itself.
My general hate-on for mid-century architecture and design continues.
