and i think that you are entirely correct, suggesting that the labour party has make a /•single offer/ to the population — in much the same way that @JoeBiden has in the United States.

endless ‘triangulation’ just doesn’t work — the ‘traditional’ (= WWC) voters ^know what is genuine and real to them, just as my contemporaries in academe know what is real.

all of the working-class voters that i met /knew voted (uniformly) for the Con. party. and that is absolutely entrenched here.
conversely, the •only labour voters that i knew (in Dorset) were teachers, doctors

it just feels to me that the rest of England (— England, not the UK) has inexorably followed this continuing political reality.
