Long thread.

I run the social platforms for @DocksBeers. We are predominantly a brewery & sell beer nationally. We decided from day one that we wanted to promote #Grimsby in all that we do.
We believe we should all be championing the area to bring positivity to our community.

I spend a lot of time reading comments & posts from ‘locals’ which for the majority are positive.

But I am frustrated to read the amount of trolls who live in Grimsby,
but still take to social media to moan, whinge, call out the local council, bitch about people living here, and put down any attempt to make the place better.

Yes there are things we may not like about the area, but sitting behind a keyboard moaning isn’t going to help.
I like where I live, & I am proud of the many people who are working so hard to make this town better. I love the community spirit, but most of all I feel safe.

You may think I’m blinkered, but I went to a rough comprehensive school. I saw poverty, drugs, violence etc
I have worked on the Grimsby docks, been a single parent, and have cared for my dying mum. It’s not always been rosey.

But come on, please don’t blame the town for our problems. Let’s choose not to argue on clickbait stories by @grimsbylive & other platforms - it’s not helpful.
Before you type abuse at someone you don’t know, stop & think. It may affect their mental health, but also damage our whole community.

@DocksBeers won’t stop championing the town & we also won’t stand for abuse or trolling on our platforms

We care & we hope our customers do too
