Decent, hardworking & passionate Labour councillors have lost their seats, so spare a moment for them and the impact on their families. Some of my very best friends around the country have lost their seats - they are all the most inspirational, tireless & brilliant campaigners.

I’m absolutely heartbroken about their loss and the impact on them personally and their families who will have put up with so much whilst they’ve served in public office and throughout this election campaign.

Whatever the lessons for Labour from these elections, for now I’ll be spending my time checking in on those of our amazing Labour councillors we’ve lost.
