Podcasts are a big thing currently, they have always been. When a blogger adds podcaster to their bio they fringe out in the arena of content creation forged by capitalism, cold reality. We are in the epoch of commodification.

Podcasting A Thread ~W
On this thread, I am going to share a conversation I had with @nitastuha a podcaster and blogger from Uganda, I believe there is a lot to pick from her modest path to where she is at now. ~W
Briefly tell us who ... is and what you do?~W
@nitastuha
Anita Faith Natuha. Currently in a corporate full time job but also exploring the many things I love to do like podcasting, writing, especially poetry.
@nitastuha
I am an extrovert, with energy of a Mukiga that I am not, filled with love for others and wanting to see everyone around me happy
2. How did you get to starting a blog. What was the motivation behind it?~W
@nitastuha
Honestly, writing has been apart of me since I was a child. Scribbling down on peoples note books. And I still have some of those scrap books ( I need to publish my poetry soon) but podcasting came to me by Gods whisper.
@nitastuha
I used to part time on radio while I was in an upcountry market and I loved it. Gave me so much joy everyday. When I returned to the city I felt like something had been taken from me and I use to watch God friended me at some point.
@nitastuha
So yes, I was driving one day and the thought came through, why not start a podcast girl? And so it began.
3. What devices have been crucial to you when creating the podcast? If you use a phone, tell us how you do it?~W
@nitastuha
Everything we want we find a way. The fun thing about podcasting is you can act hide your phone. So many apps out there. I personally use Anchor. Such an amazing app credits to the creators. I simply go to my room for a nice peace and quiet, ...
@nitastuha
switch on and start recording. Of course, holding it closer to your mouth makes the sound better. But I try to make it less stressful so it remains fun. But you can purchase a microphone if you want (not necessary though)
4. What are some of the crucial skills that one has to attain if one wants to venture into podcasting?~W
@nitastuha
Absolutely nothing. Throw yourself at it. Let your listeners give you feedback on what to correct or make better.
@nitastuha
We learn when we start not when doing the research Smiling face with open mouth and cold sweat but if there is anything, you need to know how to keep people engaged and must speak eloquently in the preferred language. (Mostly inborn qualities )
5. What do you think most people get wrong when they are just starting out with their podcast? ~W
@nitastuha
That you need to have all these equipments and following to start. No, use your phone even if you are hosting you can use your phone and try to avoid making unnecessary sounds
@nitastuha
(Which you can still edit out) for the most part , you don’t need anything except your voice and your phone app.
7. How do you go about promoting the podcast? Which mediums do you use and how?~W
@nitastuha
I am so out there. I have broadcasts on my WhatsApp that gives me the highest following.
@nitastuha
I send Individual messages using the broadcast and then share links to my Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram pages. You have to use whichever platform you have to get the message out...
8. How does consistency play a part in making sure that your podcast has constant momentum?~W
@nitastuha
Oh, a lot. People get used to listening in but when you stop they forget and you may have to work hard again to get their attention.
@nitastuha
Trust me I know but non the less, make sure to put content that’s good and don’t be driven by the consistency and end up having bad content. You would rather delay and have awesome things than consistently offer bad content
9. Interviews are a big part of podcasting, how can one become a good interviewer?~W
@nitastuha
Learn, learn and learn. I am not there yet either. Listen to other big personalities and how they host and introduce their guests.
@nitastuha
And how the interviews move. Mine is more of let’s wing it. I love my guests feeling at ease and in an open space so they give me their best.
10. What are your plans for this year content wise?~W
@nitastuha
Wow, I have not done any content since Feb and mostly because of work and failure to get good topics that I can talk about. Please share those topics so I can get back to my podcasting. But I want to give listeners something awesome not plain.
