Some trash takes on here are just compounding the grief over Al Aqsa.
“All the Muslims spoke about X cause, wheres the energy for Palestine?” “Muslim countries cant do anything, they have to be pragmatic.” “I’m a pacifist, whats your solution, blowing yourself up?”
Just stop.
There’s no need to bait causes against each other. Oppression is oppression & injustice in injustice. No one has forgotten Palestine. Save your competitiveness for the playground where it belongs.
Muslim countries can always do something, as we see when their own citizens are abused or national interest is threatened, yet they nearly always do nothing. Principle must overcome pragmatism at some point. We have Allah at the end of the day.
No tolerance for people who use War on Terror rhetoric for their narrow culture wars. Anyone who thinks UN statement #26173738 will change anything needs to read history, or hell just the news.
Side note, the way mainstream (read Western) activism is conditional on Palestinian pacifism is honestly sickening. I’ve sat in Amnesty/pro-Pal events with a bunch of old white people cheering wildly when a Pal activist dutifully confirms that “non-violence” is the only option.
They literally hear stories of Palestinians living in apartheid or under siege for decades, imprisoned & tortured and then say if they dont go the Mandela way they cannot endorse it. As though the West is not built on material & intellectual violence to this day.
This tweet says it all. And I’ll add that no long lasting change can happen in Palestine without some kind of Muslim hard power. Once we acknowledge that we can see the struggle of Palestinians holistically. https://twitter.com/fatimazsaid/status/1390816085692325891
