A short thread about a scam that @HastingsDirect seems to be running at the moment. 1/5
Needed a new car insurance policy yesterday so used a comparison site and ended up on the sales platform of @HastingsDirect. Completed the forms, entered my payment details, but got an error message saying "oops, something went wrong, please try again later". 2/5
Tried again later, but got the same message again from the @HastingsDirect website. Gave up on them and bought a policy from a different insurance company in about 5 minutes.

SEVEN HOURS LATER I get an email from @HastingsDirect thanking me for buying a policy. 3/5
So I now have two insurance policies for the same car: the one I knew I had bought and the one @HastingsDirect tricked me into buying without knowing.

Is that even allowed?! The two policies combined are worth way more than the car is. If it's stolen, I'm quids in! 4/5
So I need to cancel the policy with @HastingsDirect but I've been holding for nearly 20 minutes now and still haven't spoken to a single human being.

Conclusion: avoid @HastingsDirect.
