Just saw another charity say they help 'the neediest' people. I have had support from charities before, as have family members. I find this kind of language very disrespectful & stigmatising. Same goes for 'most vulnerable'. 1/
Would you go up to someone your charity supports and say 'you are a vulnerable and needy person'? I would hope not. If you wouldn't say it to the people you exist for, don't say to other stakeholders or put it on your website. 2/
Much better to say that you support people who are experiencing really difficult situations. Because it's the truth and it focuses decisions makers on what needs to change - the situation not the person. 3/
